2011: A Year In Portraits

2011 was an incredible year! Probably the busiest I can possibly remember.. lots of amazing opportunites and lots of lessons learned. As with last year’s post, I took one image from each shoot this past year (with the exception of those who would like the images private). This post is so meaningful to me – a way for me to look back and remember each and every person that allowed me to share a special day with them – and for that I am extremely grateful.

This post will also be one of the last ones on this blog.. very bitersweet, as this is where I first started sharing my photography online. But as they say, when one door closes another opens, and I am so so excited to share with you the new Jessica Burke Photography *next week* (!!) so be sure to check back very soon.

Thank you to my clients, my family, my friends and my husband for joining me in this journey! Here’s to an even better year in 2012.

Lani + Ramon: An {Almost!} Rainy Day Wedding

So much for keeping quiet until the new blog is announced! I just couldn’t wait to share a few favorites from Lani + Ramon’s wedding :) Their outdoor wedding was {almost} a misty, rainy one..however just as the ceremony was about to start we lucked out and the skies dried up! It made for some beautiful, diffused light and a lovely overcast background for their portraits, so no complaining over here!

I had such a wonderful time photographing Lani + Ramon’s wedding, they have such a sweet love that is evident in their images. Take a look!

Happy Thanksgiving + a blog update!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you blog readers out there! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.. partially because of all of the delicious food but mostly because it is such a lovely, relaxed day spent with everyone I love. I am so thankful for my wonderful family and amazing husband and couldn’t think of a better way to spend any given Thursday :)

I also wanted to apologize for my lack of recent posts – as I had previously mentioned, there are lots of changes going on over here! Some very exciting things are in the works :) As much as I am *dying* to share all of the gorgeous weddings and engagements I have photographed recently, I am patiantly waiting until my new site + blog are launched early next year! YAY!!!

Just so I don’t completely keep you all in suspense, here is a little tiny sneak peek of what is in store:

Eeeeek!! I am literally bursting with excitement to share all of the prettiness with you. Ah! Can’t wait. In the meantime, the blog may be a bit quiet as I prep for the site launch, continue with 2012 wedding bookings and spend some quality time with my family during the holidays. Be prepared to check back soon for lots of amazing things coming your way!

Hi friends! I wanted to share a quick post of some of the weddings and engagements I am currently working on. With wedding season winding down, I am in the last rush of editing before the year comes to an end. Can you believe it is already almost November?! Time files!

I have *so many* gorgeous things to share, but in the meantime here are some sneak peeks for you to enjoy (combined with the previous post). Aaannnd I am very happy to announce a wonderful change is coming for Jessica Burke Photography! Could it be? Branding and a new site?? You will have to keep checking back! Clara + Ken: An Orangevale Farm Wedding

On the day of Clara + Ken’s wedding it was HOT. As in, 100+ degrees hot. Despite the crazy warm weather, their wedding was one of my favorites this summer! Such wonderful people and such a beautifully in love couple. That coupled with an appearance by B.Wil ;) and some of the photobooth props making their way on to the dance floor made for such an awesome day!

I absolutely loved Clara’s style, the way everything tied together.. from the gorgeous flowers to the dress + shoes!

The light was falling pretty fast, so we snuck out again for some golden hour photos in the field.. my favorite thing!

Amanda + Tyler: A Napa Engagement

A gorgeous late summer day with two of my favorite people.. Amanda and I met in fifth grade, and as my oldest friend, we have been through a lot together. One of those things being a long, hot summer break from high school working at a nearby water park as lifeguards. In those days of bad sandal tans, Amanda and Tyler formed a close friendship that through the years has led them to where they are today.. Engaged! I can’t say that I knew then they were perfect for each other, but I sure know that now. It has been pretty amazing to watch their love for one another grow and I am so excited to be by their side as they take the next step in their relationship. A wedding in Costa Rica! Cannot wait to celebrate these two with family + friends :) Love you both!

Stephanie + AJ: A Lake Merced & Farmers Market Engagement

Stephanie and AJ wanted to have their engagement session in a place that meant something to them.. Lake Merced in San Francisco, where they first met. I absolutely love when couples decide on a place that is sentimental, it makes the photos that much more special. We decided to meet early in the morning because we were heading to the market later and in typical SF fashion, it was foggy and freezing! I absolutely love the mood of the images.. the weather and lake gave a very winter feel. Pair that with a couple very much in love and it truly doesn’t get any better.
